HOW TO FIND NOTARY PUBLIC SERVICES

Although the Mt Olive Public Library offers free notary public service, there are times when our notary is not in the building due to illness, vacation or other such reasons. If this is the case, here are some alternatives for finding a notary public in the area:

1. Mt Olive Township offices. The Clerk’s office at the Mt Olive Township offices offers free notary services. No appointment is necessary.

2. Visit an official court near your location. Most, if not all, courthouses have a notary on premises who can assist with legal documents.

3. Check your banking or financial institution. Finding notaries during regular business hours is generally quite simple, and some banks do not charge fees for this service if you are a bank customer.

4. Consult a law office. Even if you are not a current client, some attorney offices will offer notary services for a minimal charge. All attorneys in the state of New Jersey are notaries public.

5. Research your local notary options online. There are a number of options, depending on your immediate need and the type of document you need to have signed. The Internet can help you quickly narrow down the list of choices.

6. Use your phone book, and look up notaries public. You may need to contact several to inquire about fees and hours of operation.

7. Contact your insurance company to determine if it has a notary you can use.

8. Ask your real estate agent. The agent may have access to an in-house notary who can witness your document. The agent may also be able to recommend a reputable service.

9. Consider hiring a mobile notary. Rather than traveling to visit a notary, a mobile service will come to your location, oftentimes day or night. If you choose this option, be sure to ask about additional charges. Some mobile notaries may add a travel or convenience charge on to the normal fee.
