Climbing your family tree has just become easier and more thorough here at the Mt. Olive Public Library. The library has added significant new resources in the Heritage Room that use technology to make genealogy research simple even for beginners. HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com Library Edition are database reference tools that allow you to start exploring your roots simply by searching a surname. These databases provide an abundance of data including U.S. census data, birth, marriage and death records, WWI draft registrations, ship passenger lists, the Social Security Death Index and immigration lists. It also includes an extensive collection of images and indexes gathered from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The database is available to anyone during all of our hours of operation on a first come first serve basis. There will be a one hour time limit on its use when others are waiting. |
